Daniel Olinger Joining HoosiersNow.com as Football, Women's Basketball Reporter
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — HoosiersNow.com is thrilled to welcome reporter Daniel Olinger to the Sports Illustrated/FanNation team.
Olinger, a recent graduate of Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, will cover football and women's basketball for HoosiersNow.com. He will also coordinate our coverage of the rest of the Big Ten throughout the season. His first day is July 3.
During his time as a student at Northwestern, he worked for Inside NU, The Draft Network and several other sites as a writer and analyst. He'll do the same for HoosiersNow.
''Daniel is a wonderful writer and he's already accomplished a lot during his college career at Northwestern. We are thrilled to add him to our team as a full-time reporter based in Bloomington,'' HoosiersNow.com publisher Tom Brew said. ''We're going to keep him busy as our football and women's basketball reporter.
"We have been the only site that has covered Indiana's successful women's team with a full-time reporter the past two years, and Daniel will continue that trend with a unique twist in our third year. During his four years in Evanston, he was also a practice player for Northwestern's women's basketball team, which gives him a unique perspective on Indiana and Big Ten basketball. He's a great addition to the team.''
HoosiersNow.com is entering its fifth season as part of the Sports Illustrated/FanNation network, which has 45 team-specific college sites. Long-time journalist Tom Brew has been the publisher since August of 2019, and the site consistently ranks in the top-10 in the network.
Reporter Jack Ankony, who is in his second year with the HoosiersNow.com team, will assist Olinger with football and be the primary men's basketball writer during the 2023-24 basketball season. Further additions to the HoosiersNow team will be announced soon.
"Four years ago I ended my career as a high school athlete and went to Northwestern with the dream of getting a job where I’d get paid to watch, write and talk about football and basketball. At HoosiersNow, I’m getting the chance to fulfill that dream,” Olinger said. "This is a great team and I'm really looking forward to being a part of it.''
