Indiana Men's Soccer Lands Transfers Justin Weiss, Quinton Elliot
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana men’s soccer has made an exciting splash in the transfer portal, adding Northwestern forward Justin Weiss and Louisville defender Quinton Elliot.
Weiss has been named to the All-Big Ten first team twice, including the 2023 season, when he led Northwestern with seven goals and assists, both of which ranked top three in the Big Ten.
“Justin is a proven goal-scorer who will mesh very well with our returning attacking group,” head coach Todd Yeagley said in Wednesday's release. “His instincts and composure around goal will provide a boost to our attack.”
Weiss will be with Indiana in the fall of 2024 for his graduate season after spending his freshman year at Colgate and the past three at Northwestern. Weiss is elusive on the ball, and also poses physicality — traits that Indiana lost with the departures of forwards Karsen Henderlong and Maouloune Goumballe.
In the fall, Indiana will have two of the top three scorers in the Big Ten from this past season, including Sam Sarver. Freshman phenom Collins Oduro will also be back.
On Tuesday, Indiana announced the addition of Louisville transfer and sophomore defender Quinton Elliot, who is already on campus with the team. The Cardinals made the NCAA Tournament in both seasons with Elliot. He was one of three players to start all 21 matches in 2023, and had two goals and six assists, alongside six clean sheets. With the loss of Brett Bebej, who played right-back, Elliot could slide into that role in the fall.
“Quinton is a dynamic wing back who will have an immediate impact,” Yeagley said. “He is an excellent defender who is also effective in the front half with technical and athletic tools.”
