Iowa star Caitlin Clark took the guesswork out of her future plans on Thursday when she announced her intention to enter the WNBA Draft after this season.

Pretty much everybody she comes into contact with has been asking her what she was going to do next year. Now she doesn't have to answer anymore and can focus on the rest of her senior season.

The reigning national player of the year has her sights on winning a national championship after making it to the title game last year. The Hawkeyes are ranked sixth in the country with one more regular-season game to play, Sunday against No. 2 Ohio State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Fans can now honor Clark then, knowing it will be her last regular-season game in a venue she's helped sell out all season. She likely will play two more contests there in the NCAA Tournament.

Clark, a West Des Moines Dowling Catholic graduate, is coming off back-to-back triple-doubles. She's now major women's college basketball's all-time leading scorer with 3,650 points. Pete Maravich (3,667) is the all-time major college leader.

As a transcendent athlete, Clark will bring her enormous popularity to a league that will welcome the attention with open arms. The Indiana Fever own the draft's top pick and are expected to take the Hawkeye star.

Clark is averaging 32.2 points per game this season. She also leads the Hawkeyes with 7.4 rebounds a contest.
