When Dothan Ijadimbola announced his first Division I scholarship offer Friday night, it carried extra meaning. It came from a friend's father.

Jack McCaffery, youngest son of Iowa coach Fran McCaffery, and Ijadimbola are in the same AAU program - D1 Minnesota.

"I know Jack McCaffery," Ijadimbola told HN. "I’ve played with him once in a tournament. He’s a really cool guy."

Ijadimbola (6-5) is a year behind Jack McCaffery as a '26 recruit. That means he'll be a sophomore at Fridley (MN) Totino-Grace High.

Fran McCaffery has watched D1 Minnesota a lot through the years. His older son, Patrick McCaffery, a Hawkeye senior, ran with that outfit.

Ijadimbola likes the head Hawk.

"Coach McCaffery is a cool guy as well. He's easy to talk to and seems like a great coach," Ijadimbola said. "It means a lot for him to be the first to offer me and show he believes in me."

Prep Hoops rates Ijadimbola No. 2 among '26 high schoolers in Minnesota. The service ranks him as a the top small forward in the state for that cycle.

Ijadimbola is early on in his recruiting process with three years of high school remaining. He looks forward to growing his relationship with Iowa.

"I think I will visit, but that is more to be determined," he said.
