You could confidently say Amare Bynum's recruitment has taken off since May 1. That's the day home-state Nebraska offered the Omaha Bryan High standout a scholarship.

Since then, Bynum (6-8) has reported offers from Cal, Iowa State, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Creighton and Iowa. The Hawkeyes jumped in with the Mokan Elite forward on Monday.

"I know that the Iowa program is very successful. They're a great program," Bynum told HN after receiving the opportunity.

Bynum led Bryan in scoring (16.6 PPG), rebounding (8.9 RPG) and blocks (2.2 BPG) as a sophomore last winter. He showed out with Mokan during the spring AAU session.

Those campaigns combined to make Bynum a top target in the 2025 Class. Iowa saw it.

"I feel great about the Iowa Hawkeyes. They play fast and they fit my style of play," he said.

He would like to learn more about the Hawkeyes by getting on campus at some point.

"I will probably visit Iowa, but I don't know when. I’m pretty busy right now with high school and AAU," he said.

Iowa and others are competing against Iowa State, where Omar Bynum, Amare's father, played.

"I feel great about the legacy of my dad going there. And they offered me, so that was special to me and my dad," Amare said.

Only halfway through high school, Bynum can take his time with his recruitment.

"My approach (to the process) is that I want the best for me and my family. I want to play a lot when I’m coming in, so whatever school I pick I know that my decision is going to be right for me," he said.

Bynum shows off a nice, well-rounded skill set during his sophomore highlights. He's long, athletic and agile.
