Nyk Lewis reported his first scholarship offer before playing in a high school game. George Mason stepped up with an opportunity in September of 2021. The offers have flowed in steadily since then.

The Washington D.C. Gonzaga College High point guard added one from Iowa last week. He's claimed 16 offers in all.

The Hawkeyes have piqued his interest.

"I like the style of play at Iowa, and I like the conference it is a part of," Lewis told HN.

As the above video illustrates, Lewis (6-2, 185) boasts a complete game as a lead guard. He creates for others and can score it from deep or at the rim. He's quick and strong, which helps him defend multiple positions.

Xavier and Tennessee offered Lewis on the same day as Iowa. Providence did so a few days later. He'd previously reported offers from Maryland, Georgetown, Seton Hall, LSU, Radford, George Washington, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Fordham, Norfolk State, Bryant and George Mason.

Again, Lewis likes the Hawkeye system.

"I'm looking for a fast playing style where the guards have freedom," he said.

The Hawkeyes believe Lewis can thrive in Iowa City.

"The Iowa coach (Fran McCaffery) told me he loves how hard I play and can see me fitting into his Iowa team. He wants me because I'm a good defender and playmaker," Lewis said.

Lewis isn't sure when he will visit the Hawkeyes, but he's looking forward to it.

"I want to learn more about the community at Iowa and campus life," Lewis said.

On the AAU circuit, he runs with Team Takeover, the program that sent Iowa its all-time leading scorer, Luka Garza. Prep Hoops ranks him as Maryland/D.C.'s second overall player in '25. ESPN shows him as the No. 30 overall prospect in the recruiting cycle.
