Hawkeyes Add Texas D-Lineman to 2024 Recruiting Class

Iowa Football's 2024 Recruiting Class reached 20 members on Wednesday morning. Texas defensive lineman Chima Chineke announced his verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes.

Chineke (6-4.5, 240) officially visit Iowa and Kansas last month. He also reported scholarship offers from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Oregon State, Houston and others. 

ESPN, Rivals, 247Sports and On3 all ranked Chineke as a three-star at the time of publishing. On3 and 247 both saw him as the No. 32 edge in the country for '24. 

When watching his junior highlights, Chineke does well in playing his assignments. He stays in his lane, which makes him effective against the run and the pass. 

Chineke became the fourth member of the Hawkeye class projected to play defensive line. He joined Drew Campbell, Devan Kennedy and Joseph Anderson on the front. 

Before the Chineke commitment, 247 ranked Iowa 30th and On3 put it 31st among all teams in the recruiting rankings for this cycle. Both services saw them ninth among Big Ten programs.
