Iowa Football added its 12th known verbal commitment in the 2024 recruiting class Thursday morning. Omaha (NE) Creighton Prep tight end Michael Burt announced he was a Hawkeye

Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota all offered Burt scholarships on June 5. Illinois jumped in on June 15. He officially visited the Hawkeyes on June 10 and the home-state Huskers on June 16.

"The thing I like the most about (the Hawkeyes) is the developmental aspect of their program," Burt told HN after they offered

Also a standout in baseball and basketball, Burt (6-5.5, 230) shows off that athleticism on the gridiron during his junior highlights. He explodes off of the snap, displaying excellent hands and solid blocking ability.

According to Max Preps, Burt caught 11 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown during eight '22 games. He added three carries for 23 yards.

Rivals, 247Sports and On3 all rank Burt as a three-star prospect after not having him rated him prior to his flurry of offers earlier this month. On3 and 247 see him as the No. 8 player overall in Nebraska for '25 with the former tabbing him as the No. 51 tight end nationally in the recruiting cycle, while the latter puts him 62nd.
