Nick Brooks Commits to Iowa Football
WATCH NICK BROOKS ANNOUNCE FOR HAWKEYES
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Iowa Football landed a huge recruit on Friday, literally and figuratively. Cedar Rapids Kennedy offensive lineman Nick Brooks made the call for the Hawkeyes here in the school's cafeteria. The 6-foot-8, 350-pound junior chose them ahead of reported offers from SEC powers Alabama and Georgia along with other name brands.
The 247 Sports composite rankings show Brooks as a four-star prospect, the No. 12 offensive tackle nationally in the '25 Class and the top in-state player overall in the cycle. The On3 Industry ratings show him as the 14th best OT in the country for '25.
Brooks announced in the spring that he was prepared to make his announcement. He slowed things down shortly after that, taking visits and getting to better know college coaching staffs.
Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, LSU, Iowa State, Nebraska, Central Florida, NC State, South Carolina and Tennessee are among the programs that have played host to Brooks on campus visits. He most recently visited the Hawkeyes for their season-opener against Utah State last Saturday.
Brooks grew up in Cedar Rapids and was expected to attend Kennedy before moving to Georgia, where he played for two different prep programs during his first two years of high school. He suited up for Atlanta-area power Buford High as a sophomore. This summer, he returned to Iowa for his junior year.
Brooks became Iowa's second known verbal commitment in the '25 Classs. He joined Pleasant Valley defensive lineman Joe VanWetzinga, who pledged on July 1.
247 Sports ranks Brooks as the No. 2 prospect in the state for '25 behind Clear Lake's Thomas Meyer, a top Hawkeye target that visited Iowa last Saturday. VanWetzinga checks in at No. 8.
On3 sees Brooks as the top prospect in Iowa for the '25 cycle. Rivals also puts the Kennedy tackle in the top spot with VanWetzinga No. 4. Prep Red Zone shows VanWetzinga at No. 2 with Brooks 12th.
Current Iowa starting right guard Connor Colby is a Kennedy alumnus as is walk-on running back Max White, who is the son of Cougar head coach Brian White. Tight end Shaun Beyer, who won the '23 XFL championship with the Arlington Renegades, is an alum of Kennedy and Iowa ('20).
