Iowa lost two all-conference linebackers in Jack Campbell and Seth Benson off a stellar 2022 defense. Wednesday they added one through the transfer portal.

All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer Nick Jackson announced he was joining the Hawkeyes.

Jackson (6-1, 235) hails from Atlanta, where he attended The Lovett School. He spent four seasons playing at Virginia, starting 33 of a possible 46 games.

The Cavaliers received 100 or more tackles from Jackson in each of the last three seasons. He earned second-team all-conference honors after the last two campaigns and was a third-teamer in '20. He won UVA's defensive MVP award in '22.

Jackson stands a good chance of moving into a starting spot at Iowa. Jay Higgins is the only returner at the position with significant  experience on defense.

Oklahoma also played host to Jackson on an official visit after he announced he was entering the transfer portal.
