IOWA CITY, Iowa - Earlier this week, defensive end Joe Evans announced he'd be returning to Iowa Football for a sixth season. Friday, defensive tackle Noah Shannon indicated on social media that he'd being to the same thing.

Shannon (6-0, 289) started all 27 of Iowa's games the last two seasons. This past fall, he produced 8.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks to go with 24 solo tackles. He's done an excellent job keeping the linebackers clean to make stops by eating up offensive linemen.

The Big Ten coaches and media named Shannon honor mention all-conference in 2022. It marked the second year in a row he received those laurels.

Shannon became the third Hawkeye announcing he would be back for his super senior season. He joined Evans and receiver Nico Ragaini. Iowa still was awaiting word on their classmates John Waggoner, Seth Benson, Monte Pottebaum and Jack Plumb. Dallas Craddieth and Terry Roberts entered the transfer portal.

The Hawkeyes lost sophomore defensive end Lukas Van Ness to the NFL Draft earlier this week. They expected back starting defensive tackle Logan Lee, a junior, and rotational players on the defensive front in Deontae Craig, Ethan Hurkett, Yahya Black and Aaron Graves.
