Florida D-Back Officially Visited Hawkeyes Last Month

Iowa Football raised the total number of known verbal commitments in its 2024 recruiting class to 18 Wednesday night. Florida defensive back Rashad Godfrey Jr. announced he was joining the group. 

Godfrey Jr. (6-2, 185) officially visited Iowa for its big recruiting weekend late last month. He shared the experience with prospects already committed and uncommitted top targets in the 2024 cycle. The Hawkeyes have added six student-athletes in the class since the gathering. 

After reporting scholarship offers from Boston College, UConn, Duke, USF and others, Godfrey Jr. took his lone official visit to Iowa. The Hawkeyes offered on June 13. 

On3 ranks him as a three-star prospect. The service sees him as the 107th best safety nationally in '24 and the No. 168 player overall in Florida for the cycle. 

According to Max Preps, Godfrey Jr. played in eight games as a junior last fall. He intercepted one pass and was credited with seven passes defended. 

His junior highlights on Hudl reveal an athletic corner with good closing speed and fluid hip movement.
