4-star Rakease Passmore commits to Kansas Jayhawks
Add another big win to Bill Self's recent ledger, as he added again to a loaded 2024 recruiting class today. On the same day that the NCAA released the findings of the IARP without any major additional sanctions, 4-star small forward Rakease Passmore announced his intentions to join the Kansas Jayhawks next season.
The 6'5", 185 pounds native of Florida picked the Jayhawks over his other finalists of Oklahoma and LSU. He also passed on offers from multiple other Power 5 schools, including Indiana, Mississippi State, Oregon and Wake Forest.
Multiple recruiting services have praised the length and explosive play, with an ability to get to the basket with some power. He is reported to have a max vertical jump of anywhere from 42 inches to 46 inches, and he has a great shooting touch. He's also been praised for his work ethic, which should help him as he tries to find a role in his first season on the roster. The Jayhawks already have a few players at his position, including KJ Adams and Zach Clemence. However, there is no guarantee that all of those players will still be on the team next season, either through professional opportunities or transfers.
The Kansas Jayhawks have a loaded 2024 class that ranks third in the recruiting rankings. In addition to Passmore, Bill Self has two other highly ranked commitments. Flory Bidunga, a 6'8" center from Kokomo, IN is the 8th ranked player overall in the class and the top-rated center. Labaron Philon, a 6'4" point guard from Branson, MO, is ranked 27th overall and third overall at his position.
The Jayhawks are still looking to add to the 2024, improving even further on their 10th-ranked recruiting class for 2023.
