Game Primer: How To Watch, Things to Know for Texas Southern at Kansas
The Kansas Jayhawks suffered their first loss of the season last week. But before the big non-conference stretch picks back up, they get to come home tonight and take on a Texas Southern Tigers team that they match up against much better.
The Tigers are coming off of a 78-63 loss to the Samford Bulldogs on November 20th. They are coming off a 19-13 season that saw them win the SWAC tournament to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. They advanced past the First Four against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before being eliminated by Kansas in the 1st round of the Midwest Regional. They are coached Johnny Jones, who is 77-59 in his fifth season at the school.
Kansas dropped to #9 in both polls this week after their loss to Tennessee. Texas Southern is unranked.
Kansas leads the all-time series between these two programs 5-0, including a 4-0 record in Lawrence. The last meeting between these two teams was in last year's NCAA Tournament, where Kansas prevailed 83-56.
