LIVE Updates and Scores: Kansas State Wildcats at Kansas Jayhawks
The Kansas Jayhawks are hosting the Kansas State Wildcats in Lawrence today as both teams are trying to stay alive in the conference race. It's a big game for both teams, and the crowd is on hand for what should be a good matchup. You can check out everything you need to catch the game in our primer.

7:14pm: And that does it! Kansas wins the first edition of the Sunflower Showdown 85-72.
7:12pm: Kansas survives the pressure and Kansas State is cold in the last few trips down the court. Kersgieter is fouled again and goes to the line, hitting both. Knasas is up 85-71 with 25 seconds.
7:10pm: Kansas State is ramping up the pressure and it's only working somewhat. Mayberry at the line again, making both. Kansas up 79-71 with 1:30 to go.
7:08pm: Fouls like crazy now as Kansas State is running out of steam. Multiple misses and Mayberry gets the rebound and is fouled. She made 1 of 2.
7:04pm: Kersgieter and Franklin with huge threes to stretch the lead back to 11.
7:00pm: Final media timeout after a Jackson offensive foul. Kansas is looking to close this out with a strong final 5 minutes. Up 67-60 with 4:55 left.
6:57pm: After some great defense, a foul bails out the Wildcats, but they only make 1 of 2.
6:52pm: Kansas is stretching it again. After a Jaelyn Glenn three shrunk the lead to just 1, Jackson got a bucket and was fouled. Then a steal turned into another foul by Shematsi to foul out. Mayberry hit another three and then Gregory got called for an offensive foul. KSU timeout.
6:50pm: Coach Brandon is not pleased with the officiating. It's been very uneven.
6:48pm: Mayberry's shooting is keeping Kansas ahead. But Jackson fumbled the ball under the basket and KSU got it back.
6:43pm: Heading into the fourth, and Kansas is leading by just 6. It's going to be a tense fourth quarter.
6:40pm: Fouls are really adding up for Kansas State. It's what is maintaining this lead.
6:38pm: Kansas defense is playing well, but they can't capitalize on offense.
6:34pm: Turnover coming out of the media timeout. But Prater draws a foul on Jaelyn Glenn on the next trip down. Makes both to push the lead back to 10.
6:29pm: Fouls are starting to add up for Kansas State, and the Jayhawks are getting hot again. Up 52-42 with 3:30 left in the 3rd.
6:27pm: Kansas has survived the surge, pushing the lead back to 5 after it had been down to just 2 a couple of times. Telegdy and Jackson are getting points inside.
6:22pm: Not a fantastic start for the Jayhawks, as the lead is down to just five after Gregory scores five straight points.
6:17pm: Back for the second half. Kansas is up 39-29 and Kansas State starts with the ball.
6:03pm: Kansas takes a 10 point lead into halftime after another Shematsi three.
5:59pm: Kansas heating up again. Kersgieter with two straight threes, and then Prater on the fast break and Kansas has its largest lead at 14.
5:57pm: Kansas State is putting on the press to try and spark a comeback. But Kansas is breaking it and getting great shots. Up 32-23 after a Kersgieter three.
5:52pm: Trading baskets, and Kersgieter gets called for the foul
5:49pm: Kansas State with a timeout as the Jayhawks score 4 quick points. 8:28 left in the 2nd quarter and Kansas leads 22-10.
5:47pm: Back underway and the defense has been suffocating for Kansas.
5:43pm: Lights are back. 5 minutes to warm up and then we are going to get going again. They have the AFC Championship game on the screen here.
5:40pm: Lights are coming back up now. Teams will get to warmup once they come back on completely. Probably about 10 minutes away.
5:37pm: Lighting issue still doesn't seem to be fixed, but Kansas State is back on the floor going through some stretching exercises.
5:25pm: Lighting issue as the game went to the quarter break. We are delayed.
5:23pm: 1st quarter is over, and the Jayhawks hold an 18-10 lead.
5:21pm: Scary moment for KSU as Sundell went down hard on a challenge and hit her head. She had to come off and couldn't take the foul shots.
5:17pm: Flurry of scoring now for the Jayhawks. They have forced 6 turnovers in the last 6 minutes and are on an 18-3 run.
5:14pm: Kansas on a 10-0 run
5:11pm: First media timeout and we are in a 3-3 defensive deadlock.
5:08pm: Mayberry hits the three!! Great pass from Kersgieter to get her open. But points have been difficult to come by so far.
5:07pm: Wildcats have very active hands. Kansas has yet to get an open shot inside the arc. They lead 3-0 nearly 4 minutes into the game.
5:03pm: Crowd getting hyped for the opening tip. Kansas wins it.
4:54pm: Loud cheer as the Jayhawks come out onto the court for final warmups. Not a bad place to be, especially if you couldn't get into Arrowhead today.
4:50pm: A decent crowd on hand for the national anthem and alma mater and more coming in as I type this. Should be a loud crowd today.
