The Good, Bad, Ugly: Kansas Dominant Win Over Kansas State
It’s not every day that you play your in-state rival in a sport but when you do those memories will not be forgotten despite the outcome and the result of the contest. From Georgia-Georgia to Oregon-Oregon State these teams mark their calendars for moments like this and one of the biggest to do it is Kansas State vs Kansas basketball. On Tuesday that was the case as the Kansas Jayhawks took on the Kansas State Wildcats in their second meeting of the season. Despite a 75-70 loss in overtime in the first meeting, Kansas bounced back to demolish the Wildcats in their Allen Fieldhouse season finale. The final score was 90-68 in favor of the Jayhawks.
Here is the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The Good:
Kevin McCullar Jr sure did have a great farewell tour as he played his final game in Allen Fieldhouse. He flirted with 20 points as he finished with 19 points but had three assists and three rebounds to go along with it. Hunter Dickinson was Hunter Dickinson. Having nearly a 20-20 double double the big man finished with 20 rebounds and 15 points on the day. Timberlake shot excellent in the night shooting 6-for-7 and 4-for-5 from three.
The Bad:
The Jayhawks didn’t shoot a whole lot of three-pointers in this game as they only attempted 13 and made six of those. This wasn’t a bad percentage but you’d hope to see more shots coming from behind the line and I’m sure they will especially when needed. This might feel a bit too harsh or a reach, but a game like this doesn't have much to look at.
The Ugly:
The Ugly is nitpicking but for article purposes, it would have to be allowing the double-double from Will McNair Jr. 17 points and 10 rebounds on the day for the senior. If they could’ve limited that this game would’ve been even uglier for the rival squad.
