The upsets have continued across college basketball in the last week, and the Kansas Jayhawks were the headliner of that chaos. They dropped the weekend matchup in Morgantown and suffered a drop in the polls as a result, losing four spots in each of the AP Poll and Coaches Poll.

The top 6 in each poll is identical, with the UConn Huskies holding onto the top spot The Purdue Boilermakers are the only other team getting first place votes, and they come in second. The remaining members of the top 6 are the North Carolina Tar Heels, Houston Cougars, Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats. Kansas slots in at seventh in the AP Poll and eighth in the Coaches Poll, with the Auburn Tigers taking up the same spots in the opposite polls.

The Big 12 lost only one team from the poll, as TCU fell twice last week. In addition to Kansas and Houston, the conference had five other teams: Oklahoma (11th AP/13th Coaches), Baylor (15th AP/14th Coaches), Texas Tech (20th/21st), BYU (21st/19th) and Iowa State (23rd/18th).

The biggest movements came from Memphis, who lost twice last week. They dropped 9 spots in the AP Poll and 10 spots in the Coaches Poll. Other teams dropping 4 or more spots were the Jayhawks, the Duke Blue Devils, and Baylor. Big jumps up in the poll came from Auburn and Dayton.

There are only three marquee games on the schedule, where two ranked teams are playing each other. All of them come between two Big 12 teams, which is yet another sign of how great this conference is:

  • #4 Houston heads to Provo on Tuesday to take on #21 BYU at 8pm Central
  • #7 Kansas heads up to Ames on Saturday to take on #23 Iowa State at 12:30pm.
  • #25 Texas Tech heads to #11 Oklahoma at 1pm on Saturday.
