A good loss and a great opportunity - Rock Chalk Podcast

In two episodes of the podcast this week, we decided how good the TCU loss was and how big of an opportunity the Jayhawks have against Oklahoma.

The Kansas Jayhawks suffered their first loss, but it was difficult to feel too bad about that result. In two episodes of the podcast this week, we dove deep into the performance against the TCU Horned Frogs to see what was encouraging and what was worrying. And then in the preview episode, we dove deep into the Kansas opponent to see what you might expect from the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday.

The first episode of the week saw Brendan joining me to run through the game against TCU. We looked at the big performances from Jason Bean and multiple defensive standouts and what they told us about the capabilities of this team. We talked about how great the environment was, with College GameDay in town to celebrate the Kansas program. And finally, we looked at what we learned about this team, and how we expect them to compare to the rest of the conference at this point.

.The second episode of the week had Kegan Reneau joining the show to bring his expertise on the Oklahoma Sooners. We dove into the biggest issues for the Sooners so far that have led to their disappointing performances, including whether the main problems with the team are player/talent related or scheme related. We specifically look at the defense, which has been extremely disappointing.

After the break, we explored the issues for the offense. The Sooners were struggling to score for stretches long before Dillon Gabriel was injured, and we discussed how Oklahoma can try to plan around those. How much will they lean on the run in this game?

We look at how the Kansas defense matches up, including why they are sneakily better than the statistics show. We especially dive in to the Kansas defensive line, how they have been at stopping the run and how the pass rush changes as the game goes on. And finally, we end with some picks and predictions to prepare you for what we expect to see on Saturday.
