Earlier today, the Big 12 Conference announced the Week 2 conference awards, and once again the Jayhawks had a player tabbed for an honor. And you can be forgiven if you are surprised that for the second straight week, it was Defensive Player of the Week. Kansas sophomore cornerback Cobee Bryant brought home the honors.

It is the first time that the Jayhawks have won Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award in back-to-back weeks, as Kansas defensive end Lonnie Phelps brought home the honor last week.

While Bryant's stat line only includes four tackles and a pass breakup, his game sealing interception returned for a touchdown in overtime made a big enough impact to earn him the honors.

Bryant was joined by Texas Tech quarterback Donovan Smith (Offensive), Kansas State wide receiver Phillip Brooks (Special Teams), Iowa State linebacker Colby Reeder (Co-Newcomer) and Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel (Co-Newcomer) in being honored for their Week 2 performances.
