While the final score seemed somewhat close, the Kansas Jayhawks were beat handily by the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday. A lot of the issues that their play in recent weeks seemed to suggest came to the surface at the same time against Oklahoma, and Kansas couldn't keep up.

To help wrap up our coverage of this game, we run through the box score to see what jumps out.

Offense

The Jayhawks were thoroughly dominated in every offensive category in this game, as the Sooners outgained them 701 total yards to 430 yards. That included a 403-265 pass advantage and a 298-165 rushing advantage. Oklahoma was also a ridiculous 16-21 on 3rd down conversions.

Kansas won the turnover margin, with 2 interceptions to Oklahoma's 2 fumbles and 1 interception. But that wasn't enough to keep them in this game.

Passing

Kansas struggled for consistency in the passing game, with Jason Bean throwing both some fantastic deep passes but also missing low at times that put the ball in harms way.

Jason Bean was 16-27 for 265 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Many of his passes lacked touch, leading to lower throws that didn't completely clear the front defenders.

Lawrence Arnold caught 5 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns, including one where he knocked the ball up in the air in front of him and was still able to come down with the reception.

Mason Fairchild caught 6 passes for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns.

There were multiple players who got a single catch: Luke Grimm (19 yards), Jared Casey (9 yards), Torry Locklin (8 yards), Quentin Skinner (7 yards) and Devin Neal (3 yards).

Rushing

Kansas didn't necessarily have a BAD rushing game, but it was nowhere near as good as Oklahoma's.

Bean only gained 41 yards on 10 carries.

Devin Neal led the Kansas rushers with 84 yards on 12 carries, with 1 touchdown.

Quentin Skinner had 20 yards on 0 carries. He received a lateral from Bean as part of an option play, and so he was not credited with the carry after Bean crossed the line.

Ky Thomas needed 9 carries to get just 18 yards.

Defense

The defense struggled in this game, as they were unable to get off the field and also unable to substitute players due to the Oklahoma hurry-up offense.

Kenny Logan led the Jayhawks with 14 tackles, including one tackle for loss. He also intercepted a Dillon Gabriel pass in the 3rd quarter.

Lorenzo McCaskill had 11 tackles, including 0.5 tackles for loss.

Rich Miller totaled 9 tackles..

Ra'Mello Dotson had 7 tackles. He was also credited with 2 pass breakups on the day.

Craig Young had only 3 tackles, but he had the only sack for the Jayhawks.

Special Teams

The special teams weren't very impactful in this game.

Reis Vernon punted 5 times for Kansas, including one that went 60 yards and another that put Oklahoma inside the 20 yard line..

The Jayhawks did not have any punt returns in this game. Logan returned a single kickoff for 31 yards.

The Jayhawks have a lot of things to shore up this week before taking on the Baylor Bears. Kickoff is at 11am on ESPN2 in Waco, TX.
