Last week saw the Kansas Jayhawks do something they had never been able to do before: be ranked in the College Football Playoff Rankings. This week, they built on that history, moving up after a road win:

The 5-spot jump moves them into position to start receiving consideration for the New Year's Six bowl games, something they haven't been close to since their 2008 Orange Bowl appearance.

The Big 12 has five teams in the latest batch of rankings, although none are in a great position to be able to move up to the top 4. Texas comes in at #7 as the second-highest 1-loss team, just behind Oregon. Kansas is sandwiched between Oklahoma State at 15 and Oklahoma at 17, and Kansas State fell to #25 after their loss to Texas.

The ranking is just another sign of how far the Kansas program has come under Lance Leipold. The Jayhawks are in the midst of their best season in more than a decade, as they clinched a winning season with their win over the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday.

Kansas is back in action this weekend as they welcome in the Texas Tech Red Raiders into Lawrence with their #16 ranking on the line. Kickoff is set for 11am Central and the game will be broadcast on FS1.
