Many Kansas Jayhawks fans would consider their 2024 class a success. A big part of that success is Kene Anene.

Anene is an offensive lineman from East Ridge High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota and he is signed with the Jayhawks. He recently caught up with Blue Wings Rising.

“Kansas was the best choice for me because as soon as I got on campus, it instantly felt like home” Anene stated to Blue Wings Rising. His recruitment at Kansas progressed quickly, with his offer from the Jayhawks, official visit to campus and commitment to the staff all came in a 7 day period back in June of 2023. “I was able to connect with the players easily. The coaching staff was wonderful and the community around me made me feel very welcomed. When I was there on my official visit, I went through a slideshow about strength and conditioning, and seeing that I knew that it was a great place for me to develop my physical and mental body.”

“People can expect me to be someone who is always going hard and trying to do the best job that I can no matter what I’m doing.”

“Players I’d like to bring with me are anyone who is capable of going all out every practice as well as players who are great teammates and respect those around them. With recruiting other players some things I’ve been doing is if I see somebody who has been offered by Kansas or has interest from Kansas I’ve been going to their comments and just try to show them that it’s a good place for them to be at!”

He talked about the coaches that made his decision easier.

“Some coaches that made my decision easier were Coach Zebrowski, Coach Fuchs, and Coach Sleeve because they were very welcoming, and had a clear view, and idea of how I would be able to develop and help out the program.”

He has specific expectations for his school.

“Some expectations I have for Kansas moving forward is to continue the trend of hard work and discipline as well as continue to win many games.”
