The news that fans of the Kansas Jayhawks have been waiting for has arrived, and the reaction is everything you would expect from a program that has gotten used to a revolving door at the head coaching position of the football program.

ESPN's Pete Thamel is reporting that Lance Leipold and Kansas Athletics have agreed to a new contract that includes a significant extension through the 2029 season.

Under Lance Leipold, the Jayhawks have become bowl eligible for the first time since the 2008-09 season under former head coach Mark Mangino. The 6 wins achieved by the Jayhawks is double the amount that Turner Gill, Charlie Weis, David Beatty or Les Miles could achieve in a single season.

The updated contract comes after the Jayhawks announced earlier this season that they are beginning the process to construct a multi-use development that will include an update to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium and the football facilities. Leipold is reportedly involved heavily in the planning for the facility.

The Jayhawks officially announced the contract extension with a hype video on Twitter:
