Kansas at Houston: Danger of Jalon Daniels - Rock Chalk Podcast
The Kansas Jayhawks have been one of the surprise teams of the season so far, heading into Week 3 without a loss and sporting one of the most prolific offenses in the nation. Up next is a team that was expected to be a dark-horse playoff contender, the Houston Cougars. They have struggled with their front loaded schedule, so Sam and Dustin of the Scott & Holman Pawdcast joined me on the Rock Chalk Podcast to preview the upcoming game.
We looked at what we've learned about this team so far, as well as what we still hope to find out in this game. Then we look at the source of the struggles for the Houston offense before looking at how the Cougars might be able to limit the dynamic offense for the Jayhawks. And of course we end with some picks and predictions.
The episode starts by looking back to the last two weeks. We try to figure out which questions that we had for this team in our summer preview. We dive into the source of the problems in the running game, and then look to how the offensive line has been performing.
From there, we look at how this team has been handling the momentum of their performances, and I ask about how well this team is equipped to deal with a second half team like the Jayhawks.
After the break, we switch to the defense. We start by looking at how Houston has fared against mobile quarterbacks, and then figure out what we expect from the Cougars as they try to deal with the multi-faceted rushing attack for Kansas. And we look at how well this defense is set up to handle a stable of competent wide receivers instead of a single stud player.
We finish up with some picks, looking at both individual player lines and giving our predictions for the result.
