A second loss in two weeks for the Kansas Jayhawks would normally send fans spinning and jumping for the first exit with basketball right around the corner, but Kyle and I couldn't help but feel optimistic about this team in our recap episode. With the bye around the corner and just one victory needed to make a bowl game, it's still a great time to be a football fan.

Plus, the basketball season is upon us, with Big 12 Media Days just finishing yesterday in Kansas City. The Kansas Jayhawks are the reigning national champion, and they have a young but loaded squad. We looked at how hard it is going to be to live up to last year, before talking about the recruiting and development prowess of Bill Self. And then I do a quick update capsule on women's basketball.

The episode begins with an appreciation of how hard the football team fought in their loss to the Oklahoma Sooners. Despite getting down early and dealing with some injuries, the team was able to fight back in the second half to make the game respectable. We jumped into the keys for this Kansas team to be successful, and what the Sooners did to take those away.

We also looked at the attitude and personality being shown by this team and how it is much different than what fans are used to. And we give the receiving corps some love before peeking ahead and what Baylor might bring to Saturday's matchup.

After the break, we switched over the Jayhawks on the hardwood. Bill Self has a team this season that is returning a lot of experience, but also a lot of youth at some key positions. But last year's championship team will be hard to live up to. We looked for some similarities on this team with past versions of the Jayhawks, and then spent some time marveling at just how good Self has proven to be at leading this program.

And as we wrap up, I threw out a little hype for the women's basketball team, which is expecting to do some big things this season.
