Rock Chalk Podcast: NBA Draft decisions, Kansas Basketball Lineups for 2023 and Kansas Football Optimism
It has been a little while since the last episode of the podcast, which means that there is a ton of information to cover. That includes NBA Draft decisions for several key Kansas Basketball players, a bunch of updates for Olympic sports that are wrapping up their seasons, and some takeaways from recent transfers and other updates surrounding the football program. Kyle Davis joined me to cover all of it.
We started by hitting the big news of the last couple weeks: the NBA Draft decisions of Christian Braun, Jalen Wilson and Kevin McCullar. We talked about whether any of those decisions were surprising at all.
From there, we talked about what the additions of Wilson and McCullar to the returning players means for the lineups and rotation decisions that will need to be made by Bill Self next season. Plus, we explore the parallels between last year and this year, which may be more extensive than you might think.
After the break, we take a look at some of the accomplishments of the Olympic sports, including postseason success for men's golf and softball, and then the retirement of Ritch Price as head coach of Kansas Baseball.
We end the episode by diving into the feelings around the football program. I start by asking about why the remarks from Lance Leipold feel different than similar post-spring practice comments from his predecessors. That leads into a discussion of the current roster and program situation, and why we think there is a real reason to be optimistic about both this season and the future of the program.
