It's never too early to look ahead, and Kansas has offered many athletes as of late. One of the more recent offers is Grant Wise from Pace High School in Milton, Florida. Wise is a 6-foot-3 300-pound frame on the offensive line as a 2026 prospect. He has received plenty of offers in the past including Kansas, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, and more.

Wise plays under head coach Kent Smith. Coach Smith recently took the time to speak with Blue Wings Rising about the high-level prospect to break down him as a player and a person on and off the field.

“Grant is fundamentally the best lineman I have ever coached. He also plays at a high-intensity level. He does a great job at finishing blocks as well.” Following his opening statement coach Smith dove deeper into the ability that Wise possesses on the field. “He does a lot that is impressive. He never misses an assignment. He is equally impressive when run-blocking as he is when pass-blocking. He also has not given up a sack his 9th or 10th-grade year.”

Diving deeper into the character that Wise is off the field his head coach states, “He is quiet for the most part. He always has a smile which is key. He is an overall great kid to be around. His Dad is our defensive line coach and weightlifting coach. Grant is a leader in every way. A 4.0 student. He leads by example.”

Smith also dissects the improvements that he has seen in his talented high school prospect. “He continues to get stronger in the weight room. He has also improved on his feet as a whole.” Smith also goes on to say, “I do know he will be a center at the next level. Some have him ranked as the number 1 center in 2026.”

Wise is a player that will be in the recruiting circle for many programs like Kansas. “He would be a great asset for Kansas or wherever he chooses. He has 2 more years of high school but I think he can play immediately.”
