The Kansas Jayhawks have a recent history of making the most of their tight ends. The 2026 recruiting class has a local tight end recruit who is getting a lot of attention. Jack Utz is a Platte Country High School tight end from Platte City, Missouri. He measures in at around 6-foot-5 215-pounds and recently received offers from 7 different schools, including multiple Power 5 schools. After receiving his offer from Kansas, he spoke with Blue Wings Rising to share his thoughts.

“I’m incredibly blessed with the opportunity Kansas has given me. Growing up in Kansas City I have always been a fan of KU sports, and to receive an offer from them means a lot,” Utz also states. “I’ve had a relationship with KU since freshman year so I’ve talked to many of their staff. When I received the offer it was from Coach Ianello and I thought the conversation went great.”

Utz also goes into detail by stating, “First off, they feel I could contribute to the success of their team with the way they use tight ends. Secondly, their program is on the rise and continues to make strides towards success. Lastly, the new facilities coming to Lawrence are top tier.”

Diving deep into what makes Kansas unique. “One of the main differences at this point for KU is they are a morning practice team. Also in my case, the campus is very close to home and easy to get to.”

Utz believes he could bring a lot to a program like KU. “I would bring a program like KU an athlete that can do whatever you need me to do. If you need me to block I can stick my hand in the dirt and block, if you need me to catch I’ll make a catch, if you need me on special teams, I can do it.”

He isn’t ruling out the potential of a Kansas visit. “Yes, Possibly this spring.”
