Speedy Kentucky WR Jordan Anthony to Enter Transfer Portal

One of the fastest players in college football is leaving Lexington.

A late transfer portal announcement will leave Kentucky down a wide receiver and a track-and-field superstar. 

On Tuesday, redshirt freshman Jordan Anthony announced on social media that he will enter the portal with four years of eligibility after one season in Lexington:

Anthony was a 4-star recruit and one of the top 75 wide receivers nationally and the No. 12 recruit in Mississippi, per On3. He played in two games — vs. Youngstown State and Louisville — as a freshman in 2022. 

The speedster has excelled as a member of UK's track-and-field team, having broke the UK freshman record in the 60m (6.55) while movinh to No. 2 on the UK all-time performers’ list. He won the 60-meter dash at the McCravy Memorial and TTU Red Raider Open in January and won the U-20 National Track 200-meter title with a personal-record 20.34 seconds in 2022. 

Kentucky's wide receiver room contains three feature wideouts in Tayvion Robinson, Dane Key and Barion Brown. Anthony's speed would have likely carved out a role for the Tylertown, Miss. native, as he and the likes of Dekel Crowdus and Anthony Brown manned backup roles heading into the 2023 season. 

UK recently announced the addition of seven more players via the transfer portal. The April window was open from April 15-30, though Anthony has announced his intentions to enter with May coming to a close. 

Anthony was named the fastest true freshman in college football by ESPN last July, noting that his speed was "on par with Tyreek Hill."
