Transfer Portal Targets: Rhode Island DB Antonio Carter Offered by Kentucky
With the April transfer portal window being open for only 15 days, the competition to try and land top players is stiff, as is finding diamonds in the rough and keeping them a secret.
Kentucky has already tried to get the ball rolling with a couple of offensive linemen in Courtland Ford (USC) and Emmanuel Pregnon (Wyoming), but a new name entered the fold on Monday.
Rhode Island transfer defensive back Antonio Carter has announced an offer from UK:
Coming out of Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Fla., Carter started all 11 games for the Rams as a redshirt sophomore in the 2022 season. He finished fourth on the team with 60 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 11 pass deflections, two forced fumbles and recoveries, an interception and a sack.
In 21 career games, Carter has 105 tackles and 17 pass deflections. Standing 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, he entered the portal on April 16 and has also announced offers from Baylor, Louisville, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Minnesota and Texas A&M.
Kentucky's defensive backs room is one of the deeper on the roster, but adding some depth in a veteran like Carter would never be denied. The portal will close on April 30, so expect decisions to come sooner rather than later.
