Wide Receiver Jahdae Walker Transferring to Texas A&M Over Kentucky, Others
On May 1, Kentucky issued an offer to Jahdae Walker, a wide receiver transferring out of Grand Valley State in Michigan.
There was plenty of Power 5 competition in the portal recruitment, but the Wildcats have had quite a bit recruiting success in the state of Michigan over the years, and the addition of Walker could've added some valuable depth to the young WR room in Lexington.
Instead, the playmaker is headed to the opposite side of the country, though he is headed to the SEC. Coach Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies landed the transfer, Walker announced on Thursday evening:
As a sophomore in 2022, Walker — who hails from Cleveland, Ohio — managed 636 yards and four scores on 30 catches. He played two seasons at GVSU before hitting the portal.
Kentucky has had 18 departures via the portal since it originally opened following the end of the 2022 season. It has brought in nine players, most recently former Ohio State OL Ben Christman.
Adding Walker would've been a nice bonus for the Cats, but wide receiver isn't nearly as big of a worry as other rooms on the roster as the 2023 season creeps closer.
