Kentucky Briefing: Both Boogie Fland and Somto Cyril signed with the Kentucky Wildcats

Boogie Fland and Somto Cyril are officially part of La Familia.

On National Signing Day, Kentucky basketball's two 2024 commits, Boogie Fland and Somto Cyril, both signed their National Letters of Intent (NLI).

This is great to see, as in the world of college sports, verbal commitments don't mean much, so it's hard to feel confident about a player sticking around until you see pen hit paper on the NLI.

Both Fland and Cyril will walk into Lexington and play massive roles for the Cats in their freshman season, as they will be replacing all of the talent on the 2023-24 roster that will likely be making the move to the NBA.

Fland is a great guard who can do it all and will fit right into what Coach Calipari likes to do on offense.

Cyril is a tremendous defender who will block a ton of shots in the SEC and could lead the conference/country in that category.

All of Big Blue Nation needs to welcome the two newest members of the historic Kentucky basketball program to La Familia.

We wrote it

I wrote about a quote that I received from freshman guard DJ Wagner on the team's second-half success against New Mexico State.

"Kentucky opened their season in Rupp Arena against the New Mexico State Aggies, where the Cats won 86-46."

"The team shot 38% in the first half, then couldn't miss in the second half, shooting 58%."
