3 things to know about the South Carolina Gamecocks

Kentucky takes on South Carolina tomorrow night. What are three of the most important things to know about the Gamecocks?

The Kentucky Wildcats return to action tomorrow night to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks on the road inside Colonial Life Arena.

South Carolina is 3-2 in conference play so far and is coming into this contest from a 77-64 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday.

What are three of the most important things to know about the Gamecocks?

South Carolina's offense runs through Meechie Johnson

The Gamecocks have a skilled guard in the 6-foot-2 junior from Cleveland, Ohio.

Johnson leads South Carolina in scoring with 16.7 points per game. Additionally, he averages 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He shoots 43.3% from the field and 37% from 3-point range.

If the Wildcats can contain Johnson, there is a good chance South Carolina will struggle offensively.

3-point shooting has been a struggle for South Carolina

As a team, South Carolina is shooting 33.6% from beyond the arc, placing it at No. 8 in the SEC.

The Gamecocks like to get the ball inside and a lot of their points come from lay-ups, mid-range jumpers and free throws.

Kentucky's defense in the paint will be tested.

South Carolina's defense leads the SEC

The Gamecocks lead the conference in points allowed, only giving up 64.6 per game on average.

Kentucky does lead the conference in points scored, averaging 91.6 per game, so the Wildcats should be up to the challenge.

Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and the broadcast can be found on SEC Network.
