Antonio Reeves has struggled in big games; could the North Carolina game be different?

Antonio Reeves needs to play well against the North Carolina Tar Heels.
In this story:

Kentucky is getting ready to play one of their most important games of the 2023-24 season as they head to Atlanta to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the CBS Sports Classic.

The Tar Heels are ranked ninth in all of college hoops and this will be the Cats third ranked matchup of the season.

Kentucky lost to Kansas (#1 at the time) and beat Miami (#8 at the time), so they are 1-1 in ranked matchups this season.

In those two games Kentucky star Antonio Reeves has scored 21 points per game (24 vs. Kansas and 18 vs. Miami) but is shooting 38% from the field and 20% from three.

To be fair to Reeves, he had a solid game against Miami, going 7-12 from the field and 1-3 from deep, but the Kansas game was a real struggle, going 7-25 from the field and 3-17 from deep.

They always say you need your veteran players to show up in big games, and that's what the Cats need from Reeves.

It has been a bit of a trend from him during his time at Kentucky that he struggles to shoot the three in big games, so he needs to change this narrative against the Tar Heels.

If Reeves plays well against North Carolina and makes his threes, the Cats will win this game. Seeing Reeves end this narrative with a big win over North Carolina would give Big Blue Nation a ton of confidence heading into SEC play and the NCAA Tournament.
