Five-star SF Billy Richmond commits to Kentucky basketball
The Wildcats have picked up a five-star commitment out of the blue.
Billy Richmond, a high-profile small forward from Camden High School has committed to Kentucky, per On3.
Richmond played alongside current Wildcats Aaron Bradshaw and DJ Wagner at Camden. He's the No. 23 overall player in the 2024 class, the No. 5 shooting guard, and the No. 2 player in the state of New Jersey.
“The reason I chose Kentucky because it felt like this where I need to be,” Richmond told On3. “(It) felt like home basically. Great coaching staff, a lot of family ties which made it comfortable and confident for me to pick Kentucky, and just Cal always keeping it real with me.”
Richmond joins five-star center Jayden Quaintance, four-star center Somto Cyril and four-point guards Boogie Fland and Travis Perry in Kentucky's 2024 recruiting class.
According to 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein, Richmond "is a big and athletic lefty wing with developing guard skills" that is an inconsistent shooter with "red-flags in his mechanics."
Explosive, physical, fast, and can finish at the rim with authority. Sounds like a Kentucky wing.
