Former Kentucky Wildcat CJ Fredrick is off to a hot start for the Cincinnati Bearcats
CJ Fredrick spent two seasons in Lexington playing for the Kentucky Wildcats after starting his college basketball career in the Big 10 playing for Iowa.
Fredrick's first season in Lexington, he didn't see the floor after sustaining an injury right as the 2021-22 season was set to begin.
Last season, Fredrick was extremely underwhelming for the Cats, only averaging 6.3 points per game.
When Fredrick came to Kentucky from Iowa, he was coming off back-to-back seasons where he shot 45% or better from three.
In his lone season playing for John Calipari, Fredrick shot 31.8% from three.
After the 2022-23 season, Fredrick decided to transfer to Cincinnati to play for the Bearcats.
Through three games with the Bearcats, Fredrick is shooting 58.3% from three.
He was 3-6 from deep in the team's season opener against UIC, then was 4-5 from beyond the arc in the team's second game of the season against Detroit Mercy.
It always seems like players who transfer away from Kentucky go on to great college basketball careers.
John Calipari replaced Fredrick with some incredible three-point shooters, so the Cats aren't missing his presence much, but it is interesting that he struggled so much last season from deep, and now he can't miss an hour north of Lexington.
