Former Kentucky Wildcat star named NBA All-Star Game Starter
The NBA All-Star Game is right around the corner, and the University of Kentucky will be well represented.
The NBA All-Star game will be played in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, which is the home of the Indiana Pacers. With Kentucky having plenty of superstars in the NBA and some of the best scorers in the league, you can expect to see plenty of alums partaking in this event.
Recently, the All-Star Game starters were named, and former Kentucky star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named a starter. Not only is Gilgeous-Alexander averaging over 30 points per game he also has his Oklahoma City Thunder sitting with the best record in the Western Conference, which gives him a real chance to win the MVP Award if he keeps playing like this in the second half of the season. This is Gilgeous-Alexander's second All-Star game appearance but the first time he will start, which is a tremendous honor for the former Wildcat.
Joel Lorenzi of The Oklahoman had this to say about Gilgeous-Alexander being named an All-Star starter, "With last year’s game marking his inaugural All-Star nod, this year’s game marks his first time being named a starter. As of Thursday, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 31.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 6.4 assists for an OKC squad sitting atop the Western Conference standings."
The NBA All-Star Game will take place on February 18th, and Indianapolis isn't far away from Lexington, so it could be a good opportunity for Wildcat fans to go see a ton of former players celebrate their accomplishments.
