Halftime Notes: Kentucky Struggling With South Carolina
The Kentucky Wildcats cannot get any sort of offense going.
UK finds themselves down 33-25 to South Carolina at halftime. It's shaping up to be the worst offensive game the Wildcats have had this season by a mile.
Here are thoughts from the first half of action.
At least Rob Dillingham is playing well
Dillingham leads all scorers with 11 points. If someone else would step up in the second half, Kentucky would find a way to come back into this game. Right now, nothing else is working for the Cats, who are shooting 34.4% from the field and 20% from deep.
Kentucky's got to get their other guards going.
Gamecocks are being uber physical
Call it how you want, but South Carolina is being extremely physical on defense. Tab it as discipline, over aggressive, or not properly officiated, it's still happening.
It's sent Kentucky into chaotic panic mode on offense.
There's no way South Carolina keeps this up on offense
The Gamecocks are shooting 42% from the floor but 50% from deep. They made six 3-pointers in the first half.
They should be expected to cool down from beyond the arc. If Kentucky can come together on the defensive end of the floor, they have a chance of getting back into the game quickly.
This just isn't the type of game we normally see out of Kentucky. Bad offense combined with ok defense has not been the recipe. This game will have to be won in the halfcourt on both ends, and that starts with John Calipari.
