Jayden Quaintance has committed to John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky got landed a big-time recruit as five-star center Jayden Quaintance chose the Wildcats over the Missouri Tigers.
Quaintance is ranked as the number eight player in 247Sports composite rankings for the 2024 class.
This was a back-and-forth recruiting battle where some weeks it felt like he would be a Tiger, and some weeks it felt like he would be a Wildcat.
But as he usually does, Kentucky head coach John Calipari won in the end as Quaintance chose to play his college hoops in Lexington.
The best news about landing Quaintance is that part of his reclassification to the 2024 class means he isn't draft-eligible until 2026, so he will be in Lexington for two seasons.
Quaintance is only 6'9, but he has a 7'3 wingspan, which helps him on the defensive side of things when it comes to protecting the rim.
When it comes to Quaintance on the court, 247Sports director of recruiting Adam Finkelstein had this to say, "He’s 6-foot-9 with massively long arms (7-foot-3-plus wingspan), vertical athleticism, a strong frame, good hands, soft touch, shooting potential, natural face-up skill, and signs of a passing instinct. He also runs the floor well and is a solid rebounder when he commits himself."
All of these attributes that Finkelstein sees in Quaintance are what we love to see from a big man.
Quaintance is a player that has a legit shot to be the #1 pick in the NBA Draft when he is draft-eligible.
This is a massive get for John Calipari and has the Kentucky frontcourt set up for success for years to come.
