Kentucky Wildcats give an injury update on a young star

Hopefully the Cats will get their star point guard back.
In this story:

The Kentucky Wildcats took on the Tennessee Volunteers and lost 103-92 without their starting point guard.

Kentucky shot the basketball well putting up 92 points, but Tennessee could not be stopped hitting the century mark. It was a game where the entire city of Lexington was pumped up, hoping for the Cats to get a big win, but they couldn't get it done. Kentucky went 0-2 on the week and very well could drop out of the rankings when the AP Poll comes out on Monday.

Kentucky was without DJ Wagner in both of the games this week, which is hurting the Wildcats guard depth. Against Tennessee, both Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard played well, but they had to play a ton of minutes with Wagner out once again. Sheppard has done an excellent job running the point with Wagner out, but the Wildcats need that depth back. Kentucky is now 0-3 without Wagner, and although the Wildcats didn't lose those games strictly because he was out, it does show he is valuable to this team. The Wildcats need to be healthy heading into postseason play.

Calipari had this to say about Wagner's injury after the loss to Tennessee, "He is probably – I'd say – I don't even want to say. Okay. I'm expecting him to play soon. Sooner than later. But you know, he did the high ankle sprain and came back against Penn. He's done okay. He's freshman of the week four different times. So it's not like he played awful, but we need him healthy. If it was really bothering him. We've done some things, and I think he's getting healthy. It's like you all know when he doesn't play, we don't win. You know that. We can go crazy about this, and it's that, and it's this. Let's get our team together. We've still got good players."

Hopefully, this means Wagner will be back on the floor soon as Kentucky hits the road on Tuesday to play Vanderbilt, then hosts Gonzaga on Saturday.
