Kentucky Basketball Still Waiting On NCAA To Make A Decision On High-Profile Prospect
The Kentucky Wildcats are still waiting for a decision to be made on Zvonimir Ivisic.
The Croation big man has waited and waited and waited for the NCAA to deem him eligible to play for the 2023-24 season. Now in January, the Wildcats are becoming frustrated with the process.
Head coach John Calipari was recently a guest featured on Mike Krzyzewski's podcast "Basketball & Beyond with Coach K" and spoke about the frustrations surrounding Ivisic.
Apparently, Ivisic made about 200-300 more than the NCAA would have liked while playing in Croatia.
“He (Ivisic) made a stipend, and you’re (the NCAA) saying it was too much of a stipend? Juniors in high school and seniors in high school are making hundreds of thousands (of dollars), and you’re talking about his $200? A stipend of $200 is too much, or $300, whatever it was?
“We’ve got to move on with the times and what’s going on right now.”
While NCAA offices opened back up on January 2nd following the holiday break, they have still yet to announce anything regarding Ivisic, his status, or whether or not they have any intention to deem him eligible - or deem him anything, for that matter - this season.
Halfway through the SEC slate, and things aren't looking very bright.
