Kentucky checks in at No. 9 in latest AP Poll

Following a week in which they went 2-0, the Kentucky Wildcats increased six spots in the AP Poll, climbing from No. 15 to No. 9.

Kentucky picked up a 93-77 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores at home inside Rupp Arena on Wednesday night.

The Wildcats shot 50.7% from the field, 40.7% from 3-point range and 88.9% from the free-throw line. Rob Dillingham led the team in scoring with 21 points, Antonio Reeves and Adou Thiero co-led in rebounds with six each and Reed Sheppard led in assists with 11.

The Commodores shot 44.9% from the field, 21.7% from 3-point range and 76.9% from the free-throw line. Tyrin Lawrence led the team in scoring with 23 points and in rebounds with nine, Ezra Manjon led in assists with seven.

Kentucky picked up one of its biggest wins on the season on Saturday, beating the No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers 85-81 on the road inside Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville.

The Wildcats shot 45.8% from the field, 51.7% from 3-point range and 88.9% from the free-throw line. Reeves and Sheppard co-led in scoring with 27 points each, Reeves led in rebounds with seven and Sheppard led in assists with five.

The Volunteers shot 37.8% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range and 68.4% from the free-throw line. Dalton Knecht led the team in scoring with 40 points, Josiah-Jordan James led in rebounds with 10 and Zakai Zeigler led in assists with nine.

Kentucky locked up the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament.
