Kentucky could be a part of a historic finish to the SEC regular season

The SEC regular season title race could finish in historic fashion.

The SEC Tournament is right around the corner as the teams are preparing to compete in Nashville for a championship.

While the SEC Tournament is right around the corner, a champion has yet to be named for the regular season title. While it seems to be Tennessee's to lose, there is a scenario where five teams could win a piece of the regular season title. These five teams are Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina. This would be historic, as five teams have never won a share of the title. Four teams won a share of the title in 2000 as the Wildcats shared the title with LSU, Florida, and Tennessee, but this was the most ever.

Let's go day by day and see what would have to happen for five teams to take home a piece of the title.

Tuesday: Florida to beat Alabama in Gainesville and Auburn to beat Missouri in Columbia.

Wednesday: South Carolina to beat Tennessee in Columbia and Kentucky to beat Vanderbilt in Rupp Arena.

Saturday: Alabama to beat Arkansas in Tuscaloosa, Mississippi State to beat South Carolina in Starkville, Kentucky to beat Tennessee in Knoxville, and Auburn to beat Georgia in Auburn.

If all of these teams were to win these games, we could see five teams take home a piece of the title.

Now to Kentucky, what matters more than this is being a top-four seed in the SEC Tournament and being as high of a seed as possible in the NCAA Tournament. Going 2-0 this week with a big win over Tennessee would help these causes.
