Kentucky football was ranked in On3's Way-Too-Early Top 25

Where was Kentucky football ranked in On3's Way-Too-Early Top 25?

We are in the heart of the offseason for the Kentucky football team in what has been an interesting offseason for the Wildcats.

Offensive coordinator Liam Coen left to be the new OC for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it sounds like Mark Stoops plans to bring in Boise State's OC Bush Hamdan to take over for Coen. Losing Coen will hurt Kentucky's offense, as we saw in Will Levis's second season in Lexington, but Hamdan will be a really good hire for Stoops and will help Kentucky's offense move the football in 2024. Transfer quarterback Brock Vandagriff will help elevate the offense from what Big Blue Nation saw last season with Devin Leary under center.

On3 put out their Way-Too-Early Top 25 list, and the Wildcats were ranked 23rd. This should excite Kentucky fans as it proves that the national media isn't too concerned with Coen leaving for the NFL.

The Wildcats will play five opponents ranked on this list as they will take on Georgia (1), Texas (4), Ole Miss (7), Tennessee (16), and Louisville (21).

Three of these five games are on the road, as Kentucky has to go to Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Texas. The Wildcats will host Louisville and Georgia.

Transitioning to a new offensive coordinator will be an interesting storyline for Kentucky, but Stoops did an excellent job in the portal, bringing in talent, especially on the offensive side of the football. This should make Hamdan's job much more manageable.

Kentucky will once again put a competitive football team on the field, but this team will have to play a tough schedule in the first year of the new SEC.
