Kentucky moved up in the AP Poll ahead of the matchup with Mississippi State
Kentucky went 1-1 last week, losing to the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge in their mid-week game, then taking down the Alabama Crimson Tide in Rupp Arena on Saturday.
The Wildcats played the perfect game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, winning 117-95, as they couldn't seem to miss. This is just how the 2023-24 Kentucky basketball team is built. They can beat literally anyone and lose to literally anyone.
The AP Poll came out, and the Kentucky Wildcats moved up one spot from 17th to 16th after the 1-1 week.
Let's take a look at other SEC teams ranked in the AP top 25.
SEC Teams Ranked in the AP Poll
#4 Tennessee
#11 Auburn
#14 Alabama
#16 Kentucky
#18 South Carolina
#24 Florida
Zach Braziller of the Ney York Post had this to say about the Kentucky Wildcats, "There isn’t a more unpredictable team in the country than Kentucky. Its best is national championship good. Its worst could lead to another NCAA Tournament flop for a program that hasn’t reached the second weekend since 2019."
The only ranked team left on Kentucky's schedule is the game that will be the Wildcat's last of the regular season. Kentucky will head to Knoxville to try and get revenge on the Tennessee Volunteers, who beat them 103-92 in Rupp Arena.
This game will be massive for the Wildcats when it comes to NCAA Tournament seeding and seeding in the SEC Tournament. Tennessee is a really good basketball team, but if the Wildcats play like they are capable of, they can win on the road.
