Kentucky needs a veteran to get going with the NCAA Tournament right around the corner
The Kentucky Wildcats only have two games left until we are officially in the postseason.
Kentucky will host the Vanderbilt Commodores for Senior Night and then head to Knoxville on Saturday for an epic showdown.
One player Kentucky hasn't gotten much out of lately due to injury and not much on-court production is Tre Mitchell. The veteran hadn't played in a while, then made his return to the lineup against Arkansas and didn't have his best performance. He had two points, three rebounds, and one assist in 16 minutes while going 0-5 from the field and 0-3 from deep. This very well could have been rust. All Kentucky fans know who Mitchell is as a player because when he was healthy earlier in the year, he was incredibly consistent. The hope is that he will get healthy and play some great basketball in the postseason.
Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard had this to say about Mitchell when the two teams met earlier this season, "I think Tre Mitchell is one of the best players in college basketball. In my opinion, he’s not a stat sheet guy, there's no denying it's the poise and composure he gives this young really talented team." One of Mitchell's stops in college basketball was at Texas, where he played for Coach Beard.
Mitchell needs to get the rust off on his Senior Night when the Vanderbilt Commodores are in town. If Mitchell plays well in this ball game, it will kickstart him to a big performance against Tennessee and then a strong postseason.
