Kentucky star freshman discussed how the Wildcats executed their game plan against Alabama

Kentucky had a perfect game plan for Alabama.

Alabama came to Rupp Arena with the best record in SEC play, and the Kentucky Wildcats were desperately looking for a Quad 1 win.

The Wildcats got this much needed Quad 1 win after absolutely blowing the doors off of Alabama winning 117-95. Alabama is the best offense in college basketball according to KenPom and points per game, but until garbage time, the Wildcats were able to hold them down.

When taking on this Alabama team, you have to have a solid game plan for defending their style of play. Nate Oats Crimson Tide love to shoot the three ball sometimes jacking up 40+ attempts a game. In this game, the Wildcats only let Alabama shoot 17 threes, and they only made six. If you would have told Big Blue Nation heading into the game Alabama would only make six threes most would have said Kentucky is going to win that game and they did just that. After the game, Reed Sheppard discussed the Wildcats game plan to defend the three.

Sheppard had this to say about Kentucky's game plan against Alabama, “Yeah, for sure. I mean, Alabama is a really, really good team, and they're a really good three-point shooting team, so we had to work to take those away from them, and we stuck to our game plan really well. And that's what happens when we stick together and stick to the game plan and just have confidence and faith in each other.”

If Kentucky can continue to stick to solid defensive game plans and score the basketball on the other end, the Wildcats will make a deep run in March.
