The 2023-24 college basketball season is nearly over, which means we are going to find out who has won all of the important awards.
One of the most important awards in all of college basketball is the Wooden Award. It is given to the most outstanding player in college basketball every year.
Antonio Reeves was named a finalist for the award thanks to the season he has put together for the Kentucky Wildcats.
Let's take a look at all of the finalists for the Wooden Award.
Wooden Award Finalists
Antonio Reeves, Kentucky
RJ Davis, North Carolina
Hunter Dickinson, Kansas
Kyle Filipowski, Duke
DaRon Holmes II, Dayton
Johni Broome, Auburn
Tyler Kolek, Marquette
Zach Edey, Purdue
Jamal Shead, Houston
Caleb Love, Arizona
Kevin McCullar Jr., Kansas
Tristen Newton, UConn
Mark Sears, Alabama
Dalton Knecht, Tennessee
Jaedon LeDee, San Diego State
Edey of Purdue is the favorite to win this award but averaging over 20 points per game has Reeves listed as a finalist, which is much deserved for the veteran guard.
Coach Calipari had this to say about Reeves after the win over Vanderbilt, "Great layup shooter. Mid-range game, as good as anybody in the country. And he's shooting 50% from the three. What's he do from the foul line? I think he's missed one in the last 10 games. Every other one he's made. For us, he's also rebounding. He's defending better. Look, he gained weight so now he's a different player. He's also has lived in the gym. When he misses he is stunned. Stunned. Because he's shooting 5000 shots every two weeks or more. 8000, whatever it is. The guy is putting up shots. Sometimes you just got to show up every day. Show up every day even if you're not at your best. You show up and he does."
