Kentucky big man Tre Mitchell has one of the best field goal percentages in the SEC

Tre Mitchell has been efficient from the field for Kentucky this season.

Tre Mitchell has been asked to do a lot for the Kentucky basketball team early in the season as Aaron Bradshaw, Ugonna Onyenso, and Zvonimir Ivisic have been out of the lineup.

Mitchell has been great playing down low for the Cats in the first four games of the 2023-24 season.

One of the best parts of Mitchell's early season play has been his efficiency.

The Kentucky big man is shooting 62.5% from the field, which is a really good number for a player of his style.

This field goal percentage from Mitchell is good for second-best in the SEC behind Mark Sears of Alabama.

Most big men you expect to have a good field goal percentage as many of their field goal attempts are high percentage looks, but that's not the case for Mitchell.

He shoots a lot of jump shots, whether it be from three or in the midrange area. Mitchell is shooting 42.9% from three as he is 3-7 from deep to start the year.

I expected Mitchell to be shooting more three-pointers per game than he has early in the year, but when you have guys like Reed Sheppard, Rob Dillingham, and Antonio Reeves who can shoot, it makes sense to let them take the deep ones.

It's been great to see Mitchell playing good basketball while the Cats desperately await the return of their bigs.
