Ole Miss head coach believes a Kentucky veteran is one of the best players in college basketball

This Kentucky Wildcat is one of the best players in college basketball.

Ole Miss came to Lexington on Tuesday, and the Wildcats were able to get the 75-63 win over the Rebels thanks to a solid defensive showing.

For the first time all season, the Kentucky Wildcats were at full strength when the matchup against Ole Miss came up, but it didn't last all that long.

Kentucky was without all of the seven-footers to start the season, but now all of them are playing. DJ Wagner, Justin Edwards, Tre Mitchell, and Adou Thiero all missed time this season with different injuries, but against Ole Miss, the Wildcats had their whole team. After only playing 21 minutes, Mitchell left the game with a shoulder injury and never returned to the game or the bench. Kentucky has struggled this season without the veteran Mitchell in the lineup.

Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard had this to say about Mitchell, "I think Tre Mitchell is one of the best players in college basketball. In my opinion, he’s not a stat sheet guy, there's no denying it's the poise and composure he gives this young really talented team." One of Mitchell's stops in college basketball was at Texas, where he played for Coach Beard.

If Mitchell isn't able to play against Auburn, it will hurt the Wildcats, as this is the type of game you want your veterans on the floor. If Mitchell isn't able to get on the floor against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, Kentucky needs him to get healthy before the NCAA Tournament, as he is an experienced player who has been there before.

Kentucky needs their stretch big man back on the floor as he helps on the boards and can space the floor with his ability to shoot the basketball.
